Which Class Is Right for Me?
If you’re looking at the timetable and thinking “I don’t really know where I fit”, you’re not alone.
Most people who come to Tiroana are not experienced yogis or meditators. They’re people who are curious, a bit unsure, and wanting something that feels supportive rather than intense.
This page is here to help you choose a starting point based on what you’re hoping to get from coming, in very practical terms.
If you want to learn meditation
Start with PAUSE — Meditation.
This class is about learning how meditation actually works in a grounded, approachable way. You’ll be guided the whole time, with options to sit, lie down, or use a chair. There’s no expectation to clear your mind or know what you’re doing.
People often choose PAUSE if they:
Feel mentally busy or overstimulated
Want tools to help with stress or sleep
Are curious about meditation but feel unsure
Also, look out for the PAUSE and BEGIN - Beginner Meditation Workshop - Dates releasing soon.
If you’re looking for a sense of community and belonging
Both Meditation and gentler yoga classes are good places to begin.
Tiroana is a small studio where many people attend regularly. Classes are unhurried, familiar, and welcoming — you’re not expected to socialise, but connection tends to grow naturally over time.
If you’ve tried yoga in the past but want a gentle return
Start with UNFOLD — Hatha Yoga.
UNFOLD offers clear, guided movement with time to pause and adjust. Classes are structured and steady rather than flowing, making them easier to follow if you’re new to yoga.
Tuesday evening UNFOLD tends to move at a more regular pace
Thursday morning UNFOLD is slower and more spacious, with extra time for guidance and support
Chairs are always available, and support is offered for getting up and down from the floor.
If you’re wanting to stretch and release tension
Try SOFTEN — Yin Yoga (Women only).
This class focuses on gentle stretching and longer-held poses designed to release tension from the body. Shapes are fully supported with bolsters, blankets, blocks, and chairs, so there’s no strain or forcing.
SOFTEN is often chosen by people who:
Feel tight or restricted in the body
Want to stretch without pushing or effort
Prefer a slower, quieter style of practice
If getting up and down from the floor feels difficult
Chair Yoga / NOURISH (COMING SOON) classes are designed for those who prefer to stay seated or work with the support of a chair throughout.
This is likely to be the best starting point if:
Getting to the floor is uncomfortable or unsafe
You’re managing injury, mobility limitations, or fatigue
You want gentle movement without transitions to the ground
If you enjoy movement but want it slow and mindful
Slow Flow / EMBODY (COMING SOON) offers a more continuous style of movement than Hatha, linking poses together with breath.
This class suits people who are already comfortable moving on and off the floor and want a mindful flow that feels steady rather than fast.
If you’ve never done yoga before
A Beginners Yoga (COMING SOON) course will be offered for those who want to learn the basics slowly and build confidence from the ground up.
This course will cover simple postures, breathing, and how to move safely in and out of shapes — without assuming prior knowledge.
Still unsure?
Many people start in one place and explore others over time. There’s no pressure to choose perfectly.
If you’re unsure, you’re always welcome to reach out — or simply start with meditation while you find your footing.
