No. Flexibility and fitness are not requirements.
Classes at Tiroana are guided with options, support, and encouragement to work within what your body can comfortably do on the day. Resting, modifying, or pausing is always welcome.
-
Yes — and it’s also helpful to understand how learning unfolds here.
Many people at Tiroana are beginners or returning after time away, while others may have been practising for some time. Classes are mixed-level and guided with options, rather than taught from the very beginning each time.
If you’ve never practised meditation before, it can feel unfamiliar at first. Meditation is a skill that develops gradually, and it’s normal for it to take time.
For many people, a supportive way to begin is to start a simple practice at home — even for a few minutes at a time — and then come to the studio for guidance, learning, and the sense of community that practising together can offer.
If you’re completely new, meditation, slower classes, or upcoming beginners courses may feel like a more supportive starting point. You’re always welcome to reach out before booking so we can help you choose what’s most appropriate.

Chairs are always available in the studio, and support is offered for getting up and down where appropriate.
If getting to the floor feels difficult or unsafe, Chair Yoga classes will be offered soon and may be a better starting point. You’re always welcome to ask if you’re unsure.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and breathe easily.
There’s no need for special yoga clothing. Soft, stretchy clothes you already own are perfect.
-
No. Mats, bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, and chairs are all provided.
If you prefer to bring your own mat, you’re welcome to.

Every class begins with grounding and arrival. This may include gentle breathing, settling into stillness, or simple awareness practices to help the nervous system slow down.
You’ll be guided into this — there’s nothing you need to prepare or do beforehand.
-
No. Classes are guided rather than performed.
You’re encouraged to listen to your body, take breaks, adjust positions, or rest whenever needed. There’s no pressure to keep up or copy others.
-
This is not uncommon, especially when slowing down or turning inward.
You’re welcome to rest, sit quietly, or step outside if needed. You don’t need to explain yourself.
-
No. While yoga involves movement and shapes, classes at Tiroana are not designed as workouts or fitness training.
The focus is on awareness, breath, steadiness, and learning to relate to your body and mind with more care.

There’s no such thing as a wrong choice.
Many people explore different classes over time as their needs change. If you’re unsure, starting with meditation is often a gentle way to begin.
